Who We Are
The Hawaiʻi Foundation for Educators (HFE) is a 501(c)(3) organization that works in partnership with the Hawaiʻi State Teachers Association to provide Hawaiʻi’s educators with the quality training and professional development they need to support our keiki. HFE pays instructors for professional development courses and covers resources for these courses so teachers incur minimal, if any, costs to further their practice.
Since the summer of 2020, we have been able to support the professional development of approximately 5,000 teachers and impacted 250,000 students!

Over 39 years of leadership experience in the health care delivery and service industry with specialization in Hospital Operations, Physician Networks, Physician Leaders Relations, PPO/HMO Health Insurance Sales, Marketing and Business Development, and Labor Union Health & Welfare Trust Funds.
Leading Health and Community Advocate servicing key business, health and labor organizations during COVID-19 pandemic to include development and distribution of AEGIS 360 UV-C, Nano Platinum surface protection and Personal Protective Equipment.
Consultation Services provided to UHA and Aloha Care Health Insurance Companies, Arinaga & Chinen Financial Services, Benefit Plan Solutions and multiple Labor Union Organizations to earn trust and relevance, expand membership growth, enhance benefit plans and extend marketing reach.

Board Member
Les Murashige is a retired airline executive with over 40 years in the airline industry. Born and raised on Kauai, he is the product of both Hawaii’s public and private school system. He has over 25 years of executive leadership, management and operations experience in Hawaii’s airline industry. Most recently, he headed Hawaii Island Air, Inc. (Island Air), Hawaii’s second largest inter-island airline, where he was responsible for all aspects of the airline’s operation and the supervision of 35 managers and 480 employees statewide.
Prior to Hawaii Island Air, Les was the Director of Revenue Management at Aloha Airlines, then Hawaii’s largest airline. At Aloha Airlines, he developed the company’s first revenue management program, which played an instrumental role in increasing passenger volume by 2.6% annually, resulting in an increase of $220.8 million in revenues. His 15-year career at Aloha started with the position of Airport Station Customer Service Manager, then as Customer Service and Central Reservations Manager.
During his 40 plus-years in the airline industry, Les has created a number of business solutions, including the implementation of various outsourcing programs, web booking engine development, establishing a network of new products and services and has been instrumental in cultivating industry and community relationships.
